Description:This study aimed to investigate how the follicular fluid (FF) of women with PCOS, in the presence or absence of obesity, affects granulosa cell metabolism. Given that PCOS is marked by disrupted follicular development and metabolic abnormalities—often exacerbated by obesity—and that the FF microenvironment plays a critical role in supporting oocyte maturation, we sought to determine whether alterations in FF composition directly impair granulosa cell function. To address this, we performed an untargeted metabolomic characterization of FF samples collected from normal-weight and obese women, with and without PCOS, and evaluated their impact on human granulosa cells.
