Description:This project evaluated the contribution of the gastrointestinal (GI) microbiota in Crohn's disease (CD). Metagenomic and metaproteomic molecular tools were employed to elucidate the composition of the commensal microbiota in monozygotic twins that were either healthy or exhibited Crohn's disease. Various statistical clustering and classification methods were applied to correlate/associate microbial community composition, gene and protein content with patient metadata, including metabolite profiles and clinical phenotype.
