Description:High-altitude populations exhibit distinct cardiovascular disease patterns compared to sea-level populations, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Epidemiological studies reveal that individuals living at altitudes above 2,500 meters demonstrate altered cardiovascular risk profiles. Populations with multi-generational high-altitude exposure have undergone evolutionary adaptations that affect cardiovascular physiology and disease susceptibility. This project aims to conduct comprehensive omics profiling of cardiovascular disease patient cohorts from high-altitude to understand their unique cardiovascular adaptations and disease mechanisms. Additionally, this project also aims to characterize population-specific metabolic remodeling by untargeted lipidomic profiling. This project established high-altitude cardiovascular disease patient cohorts for understanding the complex interplay between evolutionary adaptation, environmental exposure, and metabolic remodeling in high-altitude environments. This project also provided mechanistic insights into how genetic and metabolic factors interact to influence cardiovascular health in extreme environmental conditions.
