Description:This project evaluated the "Thrifty Microbiome Hypothesis", that the gut microbiota play a key role in human energy homeostasis. Detailed assessment of gut microbial communities in highly phenotyped and genotyped human subjects from the Old Order Amish was carried out before and after intentional manipulation of the gut microbiome.
